Dany Heatley went down with a separated shoulder this weekend and will be out up to 6 weeks.  Meaning he is no longer able to play in the 2008 NHL All Star Game.

Marc Savard, the Boston Bruin’s center will replace Heatley on the Eastern Conference All Star squad, according to NHL.com.  Savard is the leading scorer on Boston with 47 points this year.

Savard is a hard worker and deserves this nod.  He is a very talented playmaker and is deadly on the power play.  Over the past couple of years he has really lit things up and belongs in the All Star game.  Although I am somewhat surprised that Kovalev, Sundin or Malkin were not picked.
